What to expect when your dock is booked on dockshare

So you’ve listed your dock on Dockshare, and finally, your long-anticipated booking comes in. How do you feel? Excited? Nervous?

Being a Dockshare host is easy when you know what to expect. We’ve created this short guide to help you prepare for boaters that are renting out your dock.

1. Set Yourself Up for Success
It’s important to set yourself up for success before a booking even happens. The more information you provide in your description, the more smoothly the dock rental process will go. Make sure the information you provide is accurate as well. Review your booking here and see what you can add to make it more descriptive and accurate. Ensure that your calendar of availability is current, and the rates you have listed are to your liking.
2. Be Prepared to be Contacted and Ready to Respond
Once you receive a booking, the Dockshare team will contact you directly to help you prepare for your renter’s arrival. It’s important to approve the booking within 24 hours so the boater can begin making their plans. Many boaters are on a schedule or are working with a deadline, so the quicker you respond, the more likely the booking will come together. Please know that behind Dockshare, we are real people who are here to help you, so feel free to ask questions, voice your concerns, and use our assistance to make your hosting experience as awesome as possible.
3. Guest Screening & Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes, the Dockshare team will also be in communication with the boaters. They will be made aware of your property’s location, specs, and rules. Once you’re approved the booking, Dockshare then puts the boater through the guest screening process through our insurance policy. This ensures that the person booking your dock is a real person!

4. Meet the boaters

Once the guest screening process is complete, Dockshare staff will provide you with the boater’s contact information so you can set up arrival arrangements directly. On the day of the boater’s arrival, you decide how much you want to interact with boaters staying at your dock. It is always nice to greet them and help them use your dock! With the help of Superhog, your dock listing is protected, but it’s always a good idea to show boaters how to use your equipment.

5. Pat Yourself on the Back – You Did It!

Once the booking period is over, the boater will leave your dock space. Congrats! You have successfully hosted your first boaters on Dockshare!

The benefit of renting out your dock through Dockshare is security. We help protect your payment and property.
