Accommodating Multiple Guests & Listing Rates by the Foot
Dockshare Listing Rates. While the majority of our hosts are renting out a single dock at a private residence with a flat rate, occasionally a new host will sign up for Dockshare that needs to list a per-foot rate, rather than a flat rate. A host with a long seawall or lengthy dock can accommodate multiple boats of varying sizes, creating the need for a per-foot rate.
Our development team is creating a feature that allows hosts to list their docks with a per-foot rate, but in the meantime, there are a few listing methods hosts can use when they have a setup that can handle multiple boats.
Create Multiple Listings
When listing your dock, create multiple listings of varying lengths and varying rates. For example, if you have 100 feet available to be rented, you could list a 25’ slip for $250, a 50’ slip for $500, and a 100’ slip for $1000 (rates are hypothetical to make the math easy for this example). If a boater books one of the slips, you can toggle off the other listings or adjust the lengths and rates to rent out the remaining dock space. Dockshare Listing Rates

Require Pre-Booking Communication

If managing multiple listings sounds complicated, explain how you manage rates in your listing’s description. If you think the average length boat that would be interested in your location is 40’ but you have 100’ of seawall available, go ahead and list your dock at the 40’ rate. For example, if you want to charge $400 for a 40’ boat, list your dock at $400. In the description of your dock, explain that the posted rate is for a 40’ boat. If a boater has a larger or smaller vessel, request that they start a conversation with you within our messaging portal to explain the size of their boat. You can then adjust the rate to accommodate them before they place a booking request. Dockshare Listing Rates
For example, let’s say you have 100’ of dockage available. The rate you list is for a 40’ boat, but then a boater messages you saying they have a 60’ vessel. You would then adjust your listing’s rate to $600. Once that 60’ boater has booked your dock at the $600 rate, you can open a second listing for the remaining 40’ section of dock space for a second boater to book at $400. Dockshare Listing Rates
