Captain's Log: Inspiration & Updates

Boating is traditionally thought of during the warm summer months with swimming, waterskiing and other water sports, however, there is something special about fall boating. As summer comes to a close and your children head back to school, why not extend the boating season into autumn and enjoy the crisp cooler days on the boat? There’s no better place or time of year to indulge in the fall foliage as the leaves start to change color.

Being a guest to someone’s home, property, or dock is a special privilege. It is the guest’s duty to be respectful and responsible. Using the suggested etiquette rules and tips will make the docking experience a smooth partnering transaction for all parties involved.

As an organization with a mission to make the water accessible to everyone, we want all our members to be courteous hosts and guests, so that dock owners continue to say Be Our Guest to boaters. The Dockshare team and our members love the water; therefore, it’s our daily goal to keep those waterways clean, safe, and beautiful. As a Baltimore-based organization residing along the Chesapeake Bay, Dockshare takes water quality seriously. Water pollution and runoff are two of the most ecological threats we face with our waterways. According to the most recent surveys on national water quality from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, nearly half of our rivers and streams and more than one-third of our lakes are polluted and unfit for swimming, fishing, and drinking.
